I'm very excited to be hosting this month's challenge, which is to 'Watercolour on Vellum'.
I love the ethereal look of watercolour on vellum, which is achieved by the translucency. I hope you'll have some fun with this theme.
A little bit about Vellum
"Originally, a translucent or opaque material produced from calfskin."
(read more here)
Luckily for us animal lovers, today we can get 'Vellum Paper' to create a high-quality, translucent paper with a smooth, almost polished, vellum-like finish.
It is best to use minimal water when painting on Vellum and to tape it down to prevent warping. I prefer to use thick vellum (it should be stiff), as this will tolerate more water, but it's still possible to use thin vellum with care. I usually have a paper towel on hand, ready to mop up any excess water.
Please follow the challenge rules:
- Cards only following monthly theme
- CAS design (clean and simple) - definition on sidebar
- Include watercolouring or watercolour look that uses water
- Include link to challenge on your blog post
